What is celebrated during the Feria ?

In August 1487, the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, Fernando and Isabel, conquered the city of Malaga and brought the Virgen de la Victoria, the patron saint of Malaga,  back to the city.

It was in 1491 that the popular festivities were established by the Municipal Town Council, coinciding with the religious celebrations of the Cathedral Council.

On the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the reconquest of Malaga, in 1887, the festivities regained their original splendour and have since become one of the most famous Feria of Andalucia.
